Takopi's Original Sin (orig. Takopii no Genzai) is a Japanese animated series based on the manga of the same name. At the heart of the story is an alien named Takopi, who arrives on Earth with the goal of spreading joy and helping people.

On Earth, he meets a girl named Shizuka — a withdrawn schoolgirl who faces relentless bullying and indifference from those around her. Shocked by her suffering, Takopi decides to help her using the advanced technology of his civilization. However, his well-meaning attempts to change her fate lead to tragic consequences, marking only the beginning of a complex and grim story.

The characters are faced with morally difficult choices, while themes such as childhood trauma, violence, loneliness, and responsibility form the core of the narrative. Despite the bright visual style, the story itself is dark, heavy, and psychologically intense.

The anime covers the key plot arcs of the manga and consists of six episodes. The first was released in June 2025 and immediately received strong reactions from viewers.
