Personality types of 'The Odyssey' characters

The Odyssey is a 2026 American epic action-adventure fantasy film produced by Universal Pictures and Syncopy. The movie was written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It follows the story of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the Greek king of Ithaca, who embarks on a long and perilous journey home after the end of the Trojan War. However, his return is delayed for many years as the hero faces the wrath of the gods, mythical monsters, sirens, and cyclopes, while back in Ithaca, insolent noble suitors aggressively pursue his wife, Penelope.

The world premiere took place in July 2026, and the film broke several box office records within its first days of release. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Robert Pattinson as Antinous, Charlize Theron as the nymph Calypso, and Zendaya as the goddess Athena.
